Volunteering at Catholic Hospice

At Catholic Hospice, every act of kindness brings comfort, dignity, and hope to those we serve. Our volunteers offer presence, compassion, and connection during some of life’s most tender moments—whether through companionship, music, support for grieving children, or helping care for a beloved pet. Your time becomes a gift that truly matters.

Volunteering with us is a chance to touch lives, brighten difficult days, and experience the profound impact of compassion. We invite you to explore the many meaningful ways you can make a difference for our patients, their families, and our community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Companion Care

Bring comfort, joy, and meaningful connection to our patients through simple, heartfelt companionship. Companion Care Volunteers offer support not only to patients, but also to their caregivers by providing much‑needed respite. Whether it’s playing a favorite card game, reading aloud, sharing music, or simply being present, your time can make a profound difference.

Vigil Team/Angel Care Program

Being at the bedside of someone nearing the end of life is a deeply personal and sacred honor. Our Angel Care (Vigil) Volunteers support patients during their final 24–48 hours, offering peace, presence, and reassurance. Volunteers may provide gentle touch, soothing music, candlelight, comforting words, or simply sit quietly. Training is provided, and volunteers serve in flexible 3–4‑hour shifts as available.

Music Volunteers

Music has a powerful way of awakening memories and nurturing the spirit. Music Volunteers help create personalized playlists or share their musical talents through live instrument playing. These meaningful experiences reconnect patients with cherished memories, helping them feel more present, engaged, and uplifted.

Acts of Kindness Project

This initiative invites community members to spread kindness in creative ways. Acts of Kindness Volunteers can assemble care packages, craft handwritten cards, or create comfort items like blankets or socks. Whether you’re an individual or a group, your thoughtful contributions bring warmth and encouragement to patients, families, and staff.

Honoring Our Veterans

Honoring those who have served

We are proud to provide Honoring Our Veterans – a specialized end‑of‑life care to veterans. Through peer‑to‑peer support with fellow veteran volunteers and meaningful pinning ceremonies, we honor the service and sacrifices of our veteran patients and their families.

Comforting Pets

Caring for the Pets Our Patients Love

No one should have to part with a beloved pet due to illness. Our Comforting Pets volunteers help patients care for their animals by offering assistance with basic pet care, such as companionship and providing food. This support ensures pets and patients continue to share love and comfort during challenging times.

Wishes Come True

Granting One Last Wish

Everyone deserves to enjoy meaningful moments—especially toward the end of life. Our Wishes Come True initiative helps patients fulfill personal wishes, from birthday celebrations to special outings. With community support, we create treasured memories for patients and their loved ones.
