Spring Activities To Do in South Florida

While we seem to be reaching the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, we must still be safe as we plan for leisure activities this Spring. We have put together a list of places you can visit for outdoor activities you can do while maintaining social distancing and following safety guidelines. Please call or visit the listed website before going since this information is subject to change.

 

Zoo Miami

 

  1. Zoo Miami – The zoo is open with a limited daily capacity and is following proper social distancing guidelines. Guests ages 2 and older are required to wear a mask, both indoors and outdoors. Miami Seaquarium

  1. Miami Seaquarium – The park is open with a limited daily capacity and is following proper social distancing guidelines. Guests ages 3 and older are required to wear a mask. Miami Seaquarium is currently offering a special: buy one-day admission and get the rest of the year for free (available for a limited time) Tickets are $39.99 for children, ages 3-9, and $49.99 for adults. Museum-of-Illusion

  1. Museum of Illusion – Visitors get a one-of-a-kind experience in this 3D art museum filled with optical illusions. There is also a Smash It! room where guests, ages 12 and older, can de-stress by breaking stuff. Museum of Illusions is open with limited capacity. Tickets are $20 for children, ages 4-12, and $30 for adults. Tickets for Smash It! are $20 or can be purchased in a combo ticket with the museum for $45. Dinosaur Adventure Drive-Thru

  1. Dinosaur Adventure Drive-Thru – Take the family through a prehistoric drive featuring 80 life-sized dinosaurs. Tickets are sold for specific time slots and are valid for 1 vehicle of up to 8 people. $40-$80. Tickets are not sold on-site. There is an audio tour available to download off the website. The drive-thru will be at the South Florida Fairgrounds, 9067 Southern Blvd., West Palm Beach through March 7. Rapids Water Park

  1. Rapids Water Park – The water park opens its season on March 13. It includes over 40 attractions including slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river. There are specialized slides for children and toddlers. Masks should be worn when entering the park; when in line at the snack bar, retail store, or bar; and in bathrooms. Masks are not permitted while in the water or on rides. Social distancing guidelines should be followed. Daily ticket prices vary between $46.99-$54.99, depending on the day you choose. Palm Beach Zoo

  1. Palm Beach Zoo – If you haven’t seen the Malayan tiger cubs at Palm Beach Zoo – now is the time before they grow up! The three cubs were born in May 2020 and moved into their habitat in September. Spring offers the perfect weather to watch them play. The zoo remains open with capacity limited. Guests are encouraged to wear masks throughout the park and must wear them when social distancing is not possible. They are required for the splash pad, tiger river habitat, gist shops, carousel and train, restrooms, and indoor dining room. Tickets are $18.95 for children, ages 3-12, and $24.95 for adults. Museum of Discovery and Science

  1. Museum of Discovery and Science – Museum admission will have capacity limitations to ensure social distancing. Masks are mandatory for all guests, ages 2 and older, including those who receive a COVID-19 vaccination. Tickets are $19 for children, ages 2-12, and $24 for adults. Butterfly-World

  1. Butterfly World -This butterfly wonderland includes aviaries and botanical gardens, a butterfly farm, and a research facility. There are up to 50 species to be seen at one time and over 150 different species over the course of one year. Guests must observe social distancing and everyone over the age of 3 must wear a mask. Tickets are $22.50 for children, ages 3-11, and $32.50 for adults. **Butterfly World’s website has a $5 off coupon, valid through March 22. Butterfly World is located at 3600 W. Flamingo-Gardens

  1. Flamingo Gardens – Flamingo Gardens is 60 acres of tropical paradise. Its botanical gardens showcase more than 3,000 species of rare and exotic, tropical, subtropical, and native plants. Flamingo gardens is also home to permanently injured and non-releasable birds and animals, including alligators, bear, bobcats, eagles, otters, panthers, peacocks, and flamingos. Flamingo Gardens is open with reserved online ticketing. Masks must be worn, ages 2 and older, indoors and outdoors, and social distancing protocol should be followed. Tickets are $15.95 for children, ages 3-11, and $21.95 for adults. Flamingo Gardens is located at 3750 S. Flamingo Road, Davie. Lion-Country-Safari

  1. Lion Country Safari – The drive-through safari portion of Lion Country Safari is open to guests. The preserve is divided into seven sections and visitors can get an up-close look at rhinos, zebras, giraffes, lions, and more. The Safari World Adventure Park remains closed at this time. Masks are required if out of the vehicle at any time. Tickets are at a reduced price of $21 per person. Children 2 and younger are free. Morikami-Museum

  1. Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens – Stroll a mile-long path and experience Japanese gardens, each unique to the 9th through the 20th centuries. The museum hosts exhibitions of Japanese art and artifacts. Morikami is open with a limited capacity of visitors. Masks are required when social distancing is not possible. If purchasing tickets at the museum, payment can be made using only credit and debit cards – no cash. Tickets are $9 for children, ages 6-17, and $15 for adults. The museum is closed on Mondays.   1. Phillip & Patricia’s Frost Museum of Science – Current exhibits at the museum include: Aquarium, Planetarium, Power of Science, Nature’s Superheroes, Feathers to the Stars, and MeLab. Admission is limited, and it’s recommended to purchase tickets in advance. If purchasing tickets at the museum, cash is not accepted. Masks are required for all guests, ages 2 and older, including those that have already received the vaccine. An all-in-one-ticket includes museum exhibitions, aquarium, live science demonstrations, and one Frost Planetarium show. Tickets are $21.95 for children, ages 3-11, and $29.95 for adults.
