CHS Launches “A Journey of Blessings” for World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly 2025

August 14, 2025

Catholic Health Services (CHS) celebrated World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly 2025 with a heartfelt new initiative titled “A Journey of Blessings: Celebrating Grandparents and the Elderly.” Monsignor Parker Ogboe and the pastoral staff officially launched this celebration as part of the Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year. The kickoff took place July 27th during Mass across CHS’s four medical campuses.

Each participant received a smooth, hand-selected healing prayer stone inscribed with an inspirational word.  Paired with a double-sided informational card, the stone serves as a tangible reminder of the power of prayer and the blessings that endure throughout life’s journey. We encouraged our residents/patients to keep it close, in a pocket or on a bedside table, as a daily symbol of resilience and faith.

The campaign will run through the end of the Jubilee Year, with CHS inviting staff to participate in the effort. By making World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly 2025 a deeply meaningful celebration, CHS hopes to inspire the community to reflect on the invaluable role older adults play in faith and family life.

The Catholic Church’s Jubilee Year 2025, themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” is a worldwide celebration inviting the faithful to renew their relationship with God through prayer, pilgrimage, and acts of charity. Held once every 25 years, the Jubilee is a time of spiritual renewal and unity for the global Church.
