Did you know that Catholic Hospice has a Youth Advisory Board?
Young Voices for Hospice is Catholic Hospice’s Youth Leadership Advisory Board founded by Catholic Hospice Teen Volunteer, Asha Gandreti (pictured on the right) in 2024.
Young Voices for Hospice gathers teen and young adult volunteers from all over South Florida and other neighboring states to empower young voices to advocate for end-of-life care through education, community participation, and volunteerism, while enhancing the quality of end-of-life care for Catholic Hospice patients and their families.
In collaboration with Catholic Hospice, Young Voices for Hospice aims to…
- Develop a network of young people who will advocate and educate the community about end-of-life care.
- Foster leadership and active community engagement focused on helping to improve the quality of life for hospice patients and their loved ones through Catholic Hospice’s programs.
- Share appreciation to hospice providers and caregivers for their commitment to compassionate care for patients in end-of-life care.
JOIN OUR BOARD
In order to be part of Young Voices for Hospice, candidates must be between the ages of 14 and 22 years and complete the application process. Once on the board, board members must be able to commit to serving on the board for at least one (1) year. Annual renewal is welcome and required for those wishing to continue their membership.
Board members will be expected to demonstrate commitment to our mission by attending and actively participating at all monthly meetings and activities/events coordinated by the board and completing volunteer service hours for each membership year.
We also welcome teens who cannot commit to being part of the board but are interested in assisting in the activities and/or events planned by the board!
On June 16, 2025, Young Voices for Hospice closed out the 2024-2025 school year at the Catholic Hospice office with a celebration. Some special guests from Catholic Hospice Senior Management team also joined the board.
It was a day full of connection and storytelling. The board celebrated the incredible accomplishments of our members including exciting news of some board members being accepted to top universities! The board also took time to reflect and give back with a small service activity. Young Voices for Hospice is thrilled to announce that applications are NOW OPEN for the next cohort! Thank you again to our Youth Board, led by President Asha Gandreti, for a successful first year! A big thanks to Catholic Hospice Medical Director Dr. Tracy Romanello, Associate Medical Director Dr. Angel Sanchez Artiles, Volunteer Services Manager Jasmine Alarcon, and Manager of Special Programs Gian Santayana for their special collaboration with the Youth Board!
