Dr. Daniel C. Carney, DO

Dr. Carney received his undergraduate degree (BS) from the University of Miami in 1977. His path to Rehabilitation Medicine was, however, a bit unconventional. A former sportscaster and talk show host in Miami and in Atlanta for CNN, Dr. Carney realized the beginning of his lifelong passion by attending Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Graduating in 1995, he completed his internship at Palmetto General Hospital and then moved to Boston, Massachusetts for his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Boston University Medical Center. Upon completion in 1999, he joined the staff of Boston University Medical School as Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine. He is Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and attained his Subspecialty in Spinal Cord Injury from the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2002. Dr. Carney is also Board Certified by the American Osteopathic College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Massachusetts. Dr. Carney is a native of South Florida, and it was only natural that he and his family return to the Sunshine State in 2003. He has served as Medical Director of St. Anthony’s Rehabilitation Hospital since that time. His clinical interests include spinal cord injury, stroke, sports medicine, and musculoskeletal disorders. Dr. Carney is married with 4 children, and enjoys golf, fishing, and antique “muscle” cars.

Dr. Manish M. Patel, M.D., F.A.A.P. M&R

Dr. Patel joined the Catholic Health Services Medical Group after having his own private practice and private group practice for many years. His practice consisted of an inpatient rehabilitation unit, several skilled nursing facilities and an outpatient office practice specializing in Pain Management, Electromyography, Acupuncture and Independent Medical Examination. Graduating with honors from Municipal Medical College in 1989, Dr. Patel stood at third rank in Gujarat University in India in the final M.B, B.S. examination. He was also listed among five candidate s for “Best Outgoing Students for Year 1991” in Smt. N.H.L. Municipal Medical School, India. Dr. Patel is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Pain Management. He has also received certifications in Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Dr. Patel was also the Medical Director for an Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida before going into his own private practice. Prior to that, he was the Chief Resident at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Patel is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Florida. Married for many years, Dr. Patel has two children. The family enjoys spending time together and traveling. When Dr. Patel is not with his family, he enjoys a great game of tennis.

Dr. Lina Hurtado, M.D.

Dr. Hurtado joined the Catholic Health Services Medical Group July 2015. She started her career at Central Military Hospital in Bogota, Colombia as an intern. Dr. Hurtado then received her medical degree from Nueva Granada Military University, Bogota, Colombia in 2001.She has also received her Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates in 2007 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2007. Dr. Hurtado is experienced in providing quality health care services to patients from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds. She is bi-lingual and she has proven her ability to clinically diagnose and treat ill patients. Her post graduate training was held at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, Florida where she held internships in the Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Department and in the General Surgery Department. She completed her residency in June 2015 at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Dr. Hurtado has also received her certification for Advanced and Basic Life Support in April 2013. Dr. Hurtado is married and enjoys traveling and exercise.

Dr. Miriam Feliz, M.D.

Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Dr. Feliz received her undergraduate and medical school education at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, graduating in 1975. She undertook internship training in internal medicine at the Moscoso Puello General Hospital in Santo Domingo (1973-1975). She completed her residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Boston University Medical Center (1977-1980). She also completed a fellowship in industrial rehabilitation and spinal cord injury at Boston University Medical Center (1980-1981). She became Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1989. She is licensed to practice medicine in Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Washington, DC. Dr. Feliz established her medical practice in 1982 in the specialty areas of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Geriatric Rehabilitation, Industrial Medicine, and Spinal Cord Injury. In 1988, she began a now long-standing commitment to St. Catherine’s Rehabilitation Hospital. Presently, she is a Medical Director at St. Catherine’s. Her current interests include cardiac rehabilitation, brain injury, and osteoporosis. Her favorite hobby is boating and spending time with her family. Dr. Feliz “retired” effective August 2015 and decided to come back to work as part of the Catholic Health Services Medical Group in December of 2015 as one of the medical directors for St. Catherine’s West Rehabilitation Hospital.
