Catholic Palliative Care Services Hosts Program Dedication of Bloom Supportive Care

October 22, 2025

October 21, 2025 marked a meaningful milestone with the dedication of Bloom Supportive Care, our new community-based palliative care program, at St. Anne’s Nursing Center in Miami. The event brought together staff from Catholic Health Services, Catholic Hospice, Catholic Palliative Care Services, and partners from TMC and Optum Health — all united in our mission to provide holistic, person-centered supportive care for individuals with serious illness.

The ceremony began with a heartfelt prayer led by Father Aku, followed by inspiring remarks from Catholic Health Services Chief Medical Director Dr. Brian Kiedrowski and Catholic Hospice and Catholic Palliative Care Services Medical Director Dr. Tracy Romanello. Catholic Palliative Care Program Manager Chris Curtis also shared the story behind Bloom’s name and logo. “When people see the Bloom logo, we hope they will see vibrancy, life, and hope,” Curtis shared.

Dr. Romanello emphasized Bloom’s role in enhancing care for those living with serious illness, “We’re not replacing anything — we’re adding support.”

The dedication ended with a ribbon cutting by Bloom Nurse Practitioner Jacqueline Fife who helped to establish roots of the program at St. Anne’s Nursing Center.

In just two months, Bloom has already supported 75 patients, and we’re excited to expand our reach, including into Broward County. With our palliative support growing, so is our commitment to treating not just the illness, but the whole person.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this special moment. Together, we’re helping people live with dignity, hope, and quality of life.
