Team CHS leads at the Miami-Dade Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Team CHS we did it!

On Saturday, November 3rd, Team CHS joined over 4,500 community members at the Miami-Dade Walk to End Alzheimer’s to help raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. As this year’s presenting sponsor, we had the largest presence at the walk with over 750 walkers signed up to participate!

It was an early start at Museum Park as thousands of supporters of all ages gathered to remember their loved ones and support the Alzheimer’s cause.

The event started with participants and community leaders like DJ Laz (97.3), Lynnette Marrero (Entercom Communications) and Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen sharing their personal experiences with the disease.

CHS Brand Ambassador, Tony Segreto was the morning’s Keynote Speaker, welcoming all attendees with a motivating and personal talk on the importance of the Alzheimer’s Association mission and vision of finding a cure!

Eager to begin the walk everyone gathered behind our CEO Joseph Catania, COO Ardy Pallin and Tony Segreto at the start line as they cut the ribbon signifying the official start of the walk.

While walking one could see the sea of Team CHS walkers in their team shirts walking together to remember, honor, care and fight for those with Alzheimer’s disease.

A highlight of the day was the Promise Garden, a mission-focused experience allowing walkers to choose a colored flower and write their reason for participating in the event. Each flower color represented a different connection to the disease: blue honored someone currently living with Alzheimer’s or dementia, purple for remembering a loved one lost to the disease, yellow represented those supporting or caring for someone with Alzheimer’, and the orange was for those who supported the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s. The white flower represented the hope of the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.

Our very own Abbie Casciato of St. Catherine’s West represented Team CHS during the Opening Ceremony holding a purple flower for her father, who she lost to Alzheimer’s disease over ten years ago. As one of our 30 team captains, Abbie played a significant role in our overall campaign to #ENDALZ, championing the cause and inspiring us all to fight passionately for the cause!

We want to thank everyone who walked, volunteered and supported Team CHS in the 2018 Miami-Dade Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It’s been a blessing to watch our community unite to raise funds and awareness of this disease.

We are so proud of the hard work, time and effort you all put into making this walk such a success! Thank you for helping us move one step closer to ending Alzheimer’s!
