Fall in Florida

Summer is over and fall is finally here!

Fall in Florida means fun outdoors. We are lucky enough to experience a less dramatic change of change of season than up north; allowing us to enjoy sunny days with cooler temperatures. Below are some recommendations for fun fall activities in the coming months.

Hiking and Camping – fall is the perfect time to get out for some hiking and camping on the Florida National Scenic Trail with the family. As the temperature drops, nights out under the stars become a much more enjoyable reality.

Horseback Riding – horseback riding on the beach can be quite the experience for the whole family. Amelia Island, Fort Pierce and Cape San Blas all offer areas and beach tours to create unforgettable memories the likes of watching dolphins frolic from the back of a horse.

Manatee Sightings – waters at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park are a constant 72 degrees and with weather cooling in that direction as well, it is just the right time to go and see the manatees. Everyone in the family will enjoy seeing these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat and spend the day outside.

Food & Wine Festivals – almost everyone is familiar with EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival which happens during the fall. This one has the advantage of lasting several weeks but the season is also occasion to many other smaller, two-day festivals lasting at local wineries or breweries throughout the state.

Visit NASA – Plan ahead and find a launching date to make the memory of a lifetime by watching a shuttle launch from the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex. While there, you can also experience alligators, nesting turtles, migrating birds and a host of other wildlife at the Canaveral National Seashore.

Local Farmers Markets – fall in Florida also means a bounty of food harvests from local Florida farms. Whether it’s pumpkin patches, corn mazes or handmade jams and butters, fall offers exclusive farm experiences and flavors very unique to this time of year.
