National Nurses Week 2014

Happy National Nurses Week!

This week we celebrate all of the nurses who have been there for us from the moment we were born and throughout our entire lives. The theme for this year's Nurses Week is "Nurses Leading the Way in Primary Care," which couldn't be more fitting when we think about all of the nurses we have on staff at Catholic Health Services. The compassion, commitment, and skill that they show in caring for their patients is admirable and through their work, they positively impact countless lives on a regular basis.

Our nurses are the heart of CHS, so naturally, we couldn't provide such high-quality care to people in need without them. We sometimes forget how incredibly vital every little detail of our charts and health histories can be, but our nurses remember all of that for us and help us make the most informed decisions possible when implementing our healthcare. Within CHS, we have nurses "leading the way" in skilled nursing/long term care, rehabilitation, home health services, assisted living, and hospice care, providing the best possible care possible and always making their patients a priority. One of our patients at St. John's Nursing Center put it best when she said, "they are busy, but never too busy to care." For that, we salute them and thank them for constantly striving to improve the face of healthcare.

Perhaps the best way to celebrate these incredible people is to give them the recognition and appreciation they deserve. Which nurses have made a special impact on your life? Give them a shout-out in the comments section!

Fun fact: Nurses Week 2014 ends on May 12th, which is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, renowned worldwide as the founder of modern nursing.
