Residents of St. Dominic Gardens enjoyed an educational presentation from the Miami Dade Fire Rescue-Emergency Management Planner Department and the Community Action and Human Services Department. They came onsite to discuss many topics of safety planning. The office of the Emergency Management in Dade County brought out a worker who sat with our residents and helped them in emergency situations. Some of the topics they discussed were: Emergencies and potentially hazardous events that can occur in Miami-Dade County, such as: hurricanes or tornadoes, chemical/hazardous material releases (e.g., industrial accident or act of terrorism), wildfires, widespread power outages and radiation releases (e.g., from a nuclear power plant incident or act of terrorism). A wonderful service that the county gives to our seniors.
