 On January 25, 2021, Villa Maria West Skilled Nursing Facility reports zero (0) confirmed Resident cases of COVID 19, housed within the facility today.  Residents with confirmed COVID 19 are moved to a specially equipped Isolation and Recovery Wing as we continue caring for them, following the guidelines and recommendations of the Florida Department of Health and the CDC. 
As it is our intention to provide you with the most timely and accurate information, below  you will find additional daily details of the general COVID status throughout our facility. We hope you find this helpful during these challenging times.

**In following and exceeding the CDC guidelines and Florida Department of Health recommendations, Catholic Health Services is committed to provide our patients, residents and employees with the highest safety measures.  Catholic Health Services will continue to provide you with important updates and additional protocols we have put into place to continually protect our patients and residents.

 

The Isolation and Recovery Wings have been designed and prepared  with the recommendations of a highly regarded Catholic Health Services’ Infectious Disease Consultant.  In addition to the sterile  transitional areas where staff can pass through safely to care for residents, the Isolation and Recovery Wings have further been equipped with Air Scrubbers, a filtration system that removes particles and gasses, from the air to remove contaminants. Although strict protocols have been in place since March 3, 2020, designed to protect our residents and staff from exposure to COVID 19, such as requiring the use of masks, Personal Protective Equipment, frequent hand washing and sanitizing, social distancing and daily entry point screenings, community spread cannot be fully prevented.  Any staff that tests positive for Covid 19 will be sent home immediately to recover.  They may only return to work after following CDC guidelines.

Residents conditions can change rapidly in our elderly population. We will contact their representatives or responsible party immediately, as necessary.

Please refer to our President/CEO Letter discussing our current situation and the adverse effects of absence of needed testing.

As caring family members and healthcare consumers, you are encouraged to contact AHCA at (888) 419-3456 and CMS at (877) 267-2323 advocating the need for continuous and routine testing of Nursing Home patients and Assisted Living residents every 14 days in order to protect both residents and staff.
