Centro Mater Receives Funding for Summer Camp

Since the late 1960’s, Centro Mater Child Care Services, Inc. has always been an organization that has been proud to provide childcare and serve the children of Miami-Dade county in Florida. Director J. Abilio Rodriguez is proud to announce that the Miami-based Peacock Foundation has generously donated $30,000 to the organization for Summer 2013. The grant will be used to help economically disadvantaged preschoolers attend the Wellness Summer Camp.“We are extremely appreciative of Peacock Foundation, Inc.’s gracious support,” said Executive Director of Centro Mater, Dr. Rodriguez said. “For many disadvantaged youths, summer is a time of reduced stimulation and lack of guidance. But with the help of this donation, many of such children will now have the opportunity to be engaged both mentally and physically—actions that will positively influence their health and future.”
Centro Mater Child Care Services has always strove for excellence in the field of child care education, from providing nutritious snacks, to finding quality fundraising opportunities, and to providing appropriate and relevant education for preschool-age children. The Wellness Camp is no exception, and will be offered at two sites this year—at our location in Little Havana and another location in Hialeah Gardens. The ten week program will feature activities such as literacy, gardening, healthy cooking, and SPARK-based physical fitness curriculum.
During Centro Mater Child Care Services 45 years of service in the Miami-Dade area, we have always desired to be the standard of competent, effective, and cutting-edge programs of child care, preschool, afterschool, parent education, and nutrition counseling. Our partnership with the Peacock Foundation is a good fit because we have also always had the goal of encouraging and strengthening the family through our work with non-profit children care organizations.
