My name is Gian Carla Santayana and I am the Camp Coordinator for Camp Erin South Florida , which is housed under Catholic Hospice. I am excited to share with you about Camp Erin, especially if you are not already familiar with us!
Camp Erin is a non-denominational 3-day grief support camp for youth ages 6 to 17 years old who have experienced the loss of someone significant to them. Camp Erin integrates traditional camp activities with grief education and emotional support. Activities include music, art, dance movement and pet therapies, as well as remembrance ceremonies for campers to honor and memorialize their loved ones. Our grief professionals and trained volunteers provide a unique opportunity for youth to increase levels of hope, develop trust and self-esteem, and learn that they are not alone in their grief. The beauty of this camp not only lies in what we do and its impact, but also in the fact that this is a FREE resource to the community. We provide free lodging, meals, transportation and comfort gifts for all those who participate. We host camp twice a year and our next camp is on October 19-21, 2018 at Camp Owaissa Bauer in Homestead. Attached to this e-mail is a flyer for our next camp.
As you continue to do the good work that you do with the individuals and families you serve, if you find a child or children in the home that you believe may benefit from Camp Erin, please know that we are here to be of support and assistance. Please also know that Camp Erin is not just for the families enrolled in our programs, but also those in the community that you may meet. This includes your relatives and friends as well.
We also hope that you will consider joining us in helping to restore hope in these youths’ lives. The success of our camps are majorly due to the staff and volunteers who are dedicated to providing the care and support for our campers during such difficult times. If you are interested, the application process includes completion of an application and a 2-hour training. Also attached to this e-mail our volunteer application.
If you would like more information about how to sign up as a camper or volunteer, please contact me either by phone at 954-944-2709 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or you can fill out the Volunteer application and send it back to me.
Thank you all for your continued dedication to providing a full continuum of care to all those you serve!
